Spellcheck and Word Counts

Google Documents Solution: Spellcheck AND Word Count

A very good solution for spellchecking your work and doing a word count is to use Google Documents. You can use Google Docs to type your text, correct your spelling and check your word count... then you can paste the text into your Ning blog or into your Composer webpage and do the formatting (add links, images, etc.)

Firefox Automatic Spellchecking as you type

If you use the Firefox web browser, you will find that it has automatic spellchecking as you type, putting a red squiggly line underneath words that are not correctly spelled. You can use this Guide to Firefox Spellchecking to adjust your preferences and options for this service.

Firefox Word Count Plus for blog posts and webpages

If you need to check your word count AFTER you have published a blog post or a webpage, you can use the Firefox add-on Word Count Plus to highlight the text in the browser and get a quick word count.

Mozilla Seamonkey Composer: Spellcheck your webpage

You can also check your spelling as you work in Composer. You can click on the Spellcheck button in the menu bar, or you can find Spellcheck under the Edit menu. From the Edit menu, you can also choose to turn on the "Spellcheck while typing" feature. The keyboard shortcut for spellcheck is Control-K.
