Technology Tips: Get A Gmail Account

When you graduate from OU, you will lose your ou.edu email address within a few months of graduating. It's a good idea to have another email account that you will be able to keep after you graduate.

Having a Google Gmail account is a great option, especially if you will be looking for work after you graduate. In general, a Gmail account address will make a better impression on potential employers than a hotmail or yahoo account.

By creating a Gmail account, you do not have to start using it! You can create the account now and keep it in reserve for future use.

If you already have a Gmail account, you are ready to go! Just sent me an email from your Gmail account so that I can see you have one. Give your email an appropriate subject line: "MythFolklore Gmail," "World Literature Gmail," or "Indian Epics Gmail."

If you do not have a Gmail account, please create a Google account first. You should do the Google Customized Homepage Technology Tip first, and then do this Gmail Technology Tip afterwards.

In order to create a Gmail account, log in to Google using the Google account you have created. After you log in, you will see the option to add a Gmail account to your Google services. Just click where it says Gmail: Get a fresh start with email that has less spam. Follow the instructions to choose your Gmail username.

When you are done, send me an email from your Gmail account. Give your email an appropriate subject line: "MythFolklore Gmail," "World Literature Gmail," or "Indian Epics Gmail."

When you have sent in the email, you can do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit.
