Technology Tips: Your Desire2Learn Profile

Each user of Desire2Learn - student or instructor - can set up a "Desire2Learn Profile" which can be accessed through the Roster (Classlist) link of any course you are enrolled in. For this tip, you will set up your Desire2Learn Profile. If you have already set up the profile for another class, that's great - just make sure you have filled in the fields listed below.

STEP ONE: Create profile. Log on to Desire2Learn. If you are already logged on, click on the MyHome link in the upper-left-hand corner of any course you are logged into. In the Welcome Box in the left-hand column, click on My Profile. You can then fill in the blanks and (optionally) upload a picture - just make sure the picture is the right size for viewing online (maybe 300 pixels or so, maximum). Here are the blanks you are required to complete for this tip, and of course you can fill in any of the other blanks, too. Press Save when you are done.

STEP TWO: Confirm profile. Log on to our Desire2Learn course and click on the link for the Roster, which is in the upper-left-hand menu at the very top of the screen. When you first see the roster, you may need to click on the "Students" tab. Check to make sure that there is a little Question Mark by your name now, which indicates you have a profile enabled. To edit your profile, just click on the Question Mark. You can also see if other students in this class have profiles. (Sometimes students are required to create profiles for their online courses, especially if the course takes place in Desire2Learn without any webpages or blogs.)

STEP THREE: Send email. When you have completed the process, send me an email to let me know you have enabled your Desire2Learn Profile. If you are in the Myth-Folklore class, use the Subject Line Myth-Folklore Desire2Learn Profile; if you are in Indian Epics, Indian Epics Desire2Learn Profile; or for World Literature, World Lit Desire2Learn Profile.

When you have sent in the email, you can do the Gradebook Declaration for Extra Credit.
