Revise the Introduction
After last week's assignment, you should already have an Introduction file ready for you to revise and edit in Composer. So, open the file, and do the revisions, based on the comments you have gotten back from the instructor. In email containing those comments, all comments are marked with ==> in the body of the email. You may find it easiest to print out the email and check off the comments one by one, to make sure you take care of all of them.
Also, please do not assume that the instructor comments you received back from me are the only things you need to revise. I am not a perfect proofreader - in fact, NO ONE is a perfect proofreader. So, in addition to taking care of any suggestions you get from me and from from other students in the class, you also need to spellcheck and proofread your Introduction one more time. Run the spellcheck, and read the Introduction to yourself out loud, from start to finish.
You might also want to do some formatting, too. For example, you can make use of the bold and italics font options, along with different font sizes. Here is some Information about Fonts in Composer to help you with that.
Some people also like to use colored backgrounds. If you do that, you also need to change the text color AND the link text color; here is some Information about Backgrounds in Composer to help you apply a background color and change the text colors.
Although it is not required, adding an image can really enhance your Introduction! If you include an image, make sure you also include the necessary Image Information somewhere on the page. Also, if you have some specialized sources that you used to write the Introduction, make sure you also include Bibliography at the bottom fo the page.
Finally, you also need to include a link back to your Coverpage. To link to one of your own webpages, remember to use the "Choose File" button, and then choose the file in your webpage folder. If you need a reminder about how to do that, review this Information about Links in Composer. This page shows the difference between linking to an external webpage and linking to a page in your own website.
Publish the Introduction
When you are done revising and formatting the Introduction, go ahead and publish it. Review the Instructions for Publishing with Composer if you are having trouble publishing the page.
Revise and Publish the Coverpage
You have published the Introduction, but nobody will be able to get there... unless you add a link to the Introduction from your Coverpage. So, you need to revise the Coverpage in order to include a link to the Introduction.
Close the Introduction page now that you have published it (you should ALWAYS close a file after you publish it; even if you want to edit it some more, you need to close after publishing, and then open it again if you want to edit it some more).
Then, open the Coverpage which you created and published last week. You will need to put a link to your Introduction here on the Coverpage. After you have added a link to the Introduction, save the Coverpage, and publish it.
Now, you need to check and make sure that the page has published correctly, and that everybody can access your Introduction, starting from the list of Storybooks at the class website. So, go to the class website (Myth-Folklore, World Literature, Indian Epics), look for your Storybook on the list, and go to the Coverpage. You may need to press the "Refresh" button in the browser to see the latest version of your Coverpage. It should contain the link to the Introduction that you just created. Click on the link, to make sure it goes to the Introduction. If you are able to get to the Introduction, you are done with this assignment!
If you are having trouble, please contact the instructor and explain just what the problem is:
It is important that you contact the instructor about any problems you are having - and to give yourself plenty of time to fix the problem, especially if you are new to web publishing. The sooner during the week you can let me know that there is a problem, the sooner we will be able to get it figured out!
Submit the assignment
When you have published your Introduction, notify the instructor by email. In the email, you MUST cut-and-paste the questions below, and confirm that the answer to all the questions is "yes" before you turn in the assignment. You do not have to put a "yes" next to each one; it's fine if you say "answer to all is yes," or something like that. Please give the email a subject line based on the class you are enrolled in ("MythFolklore Storybook Introduction Published" - "World Literature Storybook Introduction Published" - "Indian Epics Storybook Introduction Published").
Please confirm that the answer to each question is YES: Is the link to your Coverpage from the list of Storybooks at the class
website correct? |
