Storybook Revision Week

In Week 7, Week 9, Week 11 and Week 13 you will be REVISING your Storybook. You will have revisions to do to your story from the previous week, plus you may also have revisions that you need to complete on other pages as well.

If you did NOT do a new story last week, then you can add the story this week - but you need to submit the New Story assignment questions if you are turning in a late new story during a revision week. You should only answer the questions on this page if you actually turned in a new story last week and have completed the revisions to that story for this week's assignment.

Also, please do not assume that the instructor comments you received back from me are the only things you need to revise. I am not a perfect proofreader - in fact, NO ONE is a perfect proofreader. So, in addition to taking care of any suggestions you get from me and from from other students in the class, you also need to spellcheck and proofread your Story Page once again. Run the spellcheck, and read the Story Page to yourself out loud. You will find more instructions about the Revision Week requirements below.

When you are done with the Revision assignment, notify the instructor by email. In the email, you MUST cut-and-paste the questions below, and confirm that the answer to all the questions is "yes" before you turn in the assignment. You do not have to put a "yes" next to each one; it's fine if you say "answer to all is yes," or something like that. Please give the email a subject line based on the class you are enrolled in ("MythFolklore Storybook Revisions " - "World Literature Storybook Revisions" - "Indian Epics Storybook Revisions").

Please confirm that the answer to each question is YES:

Is the link to your Coverpage from the list of Storybooks at the class website correct?
Does the title of EACH story appear on your Coverpage with a link to each Story Page?
Have you completed ALL Story Page revisions based on instructor and student comments?
If you revised a Story Page, did you spellcheck that page one more time?
If you revised a Story Page, did you proofread that page one more time by reading it out loud?
Does EACH Story Page include complete Bibliography for your source(s)?
Does EACH Story Page include complete Image Information for your image(s)?
Does your Introduction contain a reference to EACH story you have included so far in your Storybook?

A Note About Project Deadlines. Everybody is strongly encouraged to complete their assignment on Monday, by the midnight deadline. The only way you can get full credit for the assignment (10 points) is if you turn it it on Monday, before the Monday midnight deadline (that's CST, Norman time).

Late assignments. You can receive partial credit for the Storybook assignment if you turn it in late, based on the following schedule:

  • assignments turned in on Tuesday can receive up to 8 points credit
  • assignments turned in on Wednesday can receive up to 7 points credit
  • assignments turned in on Thursday can receive up to 6 points credit
  • assignments turned in before noon on Friday can receive up to 5 points credit

No Storybook assignments will be accepted after noon on Friday.

Revision Requirements:

In a Revision Week, you are responsible for carefully revising the last story you added to your Storybook. You are also responsible for any other revisions that need to be made to other pages in your Storybook, including the Coverpage, Introduction, and any other Story Pages you have published previously.

Is the link to your Coverpage from the list of Storybooks at the class website correct? For anyone in the class, including the instructor, to access your Storybook, there must be a correct link from the class list of Storybooks: Myth-Folklore, World Literature, Indian Epics. Please do not change the name of your Coverpage file, because that will break the link. You need to make sure every time you turn in an assignment that the link to your Storybook is still working. Do not just assume that it is working; you must CHECK and make sure. You will receive zero credit for the assignment if I cannot access your Storybook Coverpage from the class list.

Does the title of EACH story appear on your Coverpage with a link to each Story Page? By the end of the semester, you will probably have four stories in your Storybook. It is essential that your Coverpage show the title of EACH story in your Storybook, with a link to that story. You can use a short title or a long title on the Coverpage, but the story title MUST appear. "Story #1" is not a title; please make sure you give your story a good title! Also, please check and make SURE that the link from the Coverpage to the new story is working. You will receive zero credit for the assignment if I cannot access your Storybook Coverpage from the class list.

Have you completed ALL Story Page revisions based on instructor and student comments? You need to make sure you complete all the revisions specified in the instructor comments, and you might also get many good suggestions from student comments. In the instructor comments, all comments are marked with ==> in the body of the email. You may find it easiest to print out the email and check off the comments one by one, to make sure you take care of all of them. If you are having a specific writing problem, you may also need to go to the Writing Center in Bizzell for some additional help; it's a great service - please take advantage of it!

If you revised a Story Page, did you spellcheck that page one more time? Usually in a revision week, you are revising just one Story Page, although it you skipped a previous assignment, you may be revising more than one Story Page. Please make sure that you spellcheck EACH page where you made revisions, since it is always possible for new spelling errors to creep into the new version. For more information about spellcheck, see these notes about Spellcheck, Word Counts and Saving Your Work.

If you revised a Story Page, did you proofread that page one more time by reading it out loud? Please make sure that you proofread EACH page where you made revisions, since it is always possible for new writing errors to creep into the new version.

Does EACH Story Page include complete Bibliography for your source(s)? Please review the notes about Bibliography, and make sure your Bibliography entry is complete. For those of you in Indian Epics, you may find these Bibliography references useful:

Does EACH Story Page include complete Image Information for your image(s)? Make sure you review the guidelines for Image Information, paying special attention to the items marked in red.

Does your Introduction contain a reference to EACH story you have included so far in your Storybook? The Introduction must contain some kind of reference to EACH story in your Storybook. In addition, you might also want to include links to every story in the Introduction, so that the reader can click and go directly from the Introduction to the story that they want to read.
