Ning.com Account Creation

You will be using a Ning online community site, OUMyth.ning.com, for blogging and also a classroom space in which to interact with other people in the class. Perhaps you have already used a Ning community site before; there are thousands of Ning websites online. Some of those sites are public, while other Ning websites are private, like this one, where you need an invitation to join.

This assignment has three parts: creating your Ning account, adjusting your Settings (if necessary), and completing your MyPage profile.

PART ONE: Join the Ning. You should already have received an invitation to join the Ning. Here are instructions on how to use the information in that email to create your Ning account and to log on to the class Ning. If you cannot find your invitation email, contact me to request another invitation.

NOTE: Enrolled in multiple classes? If you are enrolled in multiple classes with me this semester, please make sure you read these notes about duplicate assignments. You will use just one Ning account for each of the classes you are enrolled in with me this semester.

PART TWO: Ning Settings. After you have entered the Ning, you can adjust your Settings. The link to your Settings is in the box with your name in the upper right-hand corner of the Ning. Click on Settings. Here are two Settings you should check:

PART THREE: Create your MyPage profile. To get to your page, just click on the My Page tab on the Ning homepage, which is part of the main navigation menu starting on the left hand side of the page. Make sure you meet the following minimum requirements:

If you want to find some more ways to customize your page, you can find some Ning Profile Tips included in the Technology Tips for this class - so if you want to add a YouTube video to your profile page, for example, feel free to do that! :-)

DECLARATION: When you are done, make sure you complete the Gradebook Declaration.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have created a Ning account at the class Ning and logged on successfully.

I have answered the profile questions and uploaded a photo or other image to use as my avatar.
