Orientation Week: Storybook Favorites

You will be building a website this semester where you will create your own "Storybook" based on traditional stories. Each Storybook contains four stories which are your own creative retelling of those traditional stories. This week, you will be looking at Storybooks created by students in the past to get some ideas for what you might want to do with your project.

(the sample is for the Indian Epics class, but the format is identical for this Myth-Folklore and World Lit also)

PART ONE: Browse the Archive. You should browse through the archive for the class that you are enrolled in! You will find it easy to keep your place if you right-mouse click on each Storybook you look at it, and open in a new tab (or in a new window). Then you can bookmark the ones you want to keep - and the archive list will stay open in the original window as you close each Storybook window.

You need to pick at least THREE Storybooks that get your attention, either because you are interested in the content, or in the design of the Storybook, or both. You can also write about more than three Storybooks if you want - three is the minimum, but if you want to write about more than three Storybooks, that is fine, too! You can look at Storybooks in any of the three classes, since the Storybook assignment is the same in all three classes, just the content is different.

PART TWO: Write a blog post. After you have chosen your three favorite Storybooks, you will write a blog post, and give it the title: Week 1: Favorite Storybooks (class). You need to discuss at least THREE Storybooks, and provide a LINK to each Storybook. Your blog post should be a minimum of 300 words long. Here are some prompts that might help you as you are writing your comments about each of the Storybooks you have chosen:

Optional Image: If you want, you can include an image from one of the Storybooks in your post. Remember: if you do include an image, you also need to include Image Information, too!

Gradebook Declaration. Don't forget to do the Gradebook Declaration when you are done.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

I have published a blog post with the words "Week 1 Storybook Favorites" in the title.

My post is a minimum of 300 words long, and I have spellchecked and proofread the post.

I have discussed at least THREE Storybooks, with a link to each Storybook in the post.
