Famous Last Words

The "Famous Last Words" assignment is an extra-credit assignment that is intended to help you wrap up the week you just finished and get ready for the next week. The Famous Last Words assignment is something you will post in your Bloglines blog. It is kind of a "note to yourself" about how you are doing so far in the class.

When you write your Famous Last Words, please answer as many of these questions as you want - you can choose to focus on just one question, or you can answer several of them if you want. Your post needs to be a minimum of 300 words in length when you are done. Please make sure you link to any item you would like to highlight; you can link to individual blog posts (your own blog or the blog of some other student in class) and you can also link to individual pages of a Storybook (your own or someone else's).

As you can see, the format is pretty much wide open!

Instructions for the Extra Credit "Famous Last Words" assignment:

  1. Respond to one or more of the suggested topics listed above. Your response should be a minimum of 300 words and a maximum of 1000 words. If your response is less than 300 words, make it longer! If it is longer than 1000 words, then tighten it up.
    TIP: You can keep track of your wordcount and do a spellcheck at spellcheck.net - type the text there, and then cut and paste it into Bloglines, where you can do the final formatting, add links, etc.
  2. Post your response in your Bloglines blog for this class. Give your post a two-part title:
  3. Give your post a two-part title:
    Part A. Before the colon. The first part of the blog titles looks like this: Last Words Week #: (so, Last Words Week #2:, Last Words Week #3:, etc. - whatever the week is).
    Part B. After the colon. After the colon put something of your own choice. Example: Starting Week #2: my essay this week was really excellent.
  4. Proofread your post by reading it out loud (if the post is long, this may take you a few minutes), and then publish your post.
  5. When you are done, complete the Gradebook Declaration. (Your Gradebook Declaration is subject to the Honor Code.)

Here is the text of the Gradebook Declaration:

I have posted my Famous Last Words in my Bloglines blog for this class, and I have met these requirements:
(1) I proofread and spellchecked the post;
(2) I gave the post an appropriate title;
(3) I checked to make sure that the post is between 300 and 1000 words in length.
