Honor Code and Gradebook Declarations
You will be responsible for recording the completion of some of your assignments in the online Gradebook. These are called Gradebook Declarations. The Honor Code means you will honestly represent your efforts when you declare your work. If you make a false Gradebook Declaration, that is a violation of the Honor Code. Please make sure that you do not take credit for work that you did not complete!
For this class to function, it is essential that you make an honest declaration of the work you have completed. Do not ever do a Declaration for work that you have not completed. If you are not sure about whether you should complete a Gradebook Declaration, you need to contact me first.
Honor Code and Plagiarism
In addition, this Honor Code requires that you must not commit any form of plagiarism in creating your Storybook project. If you have any questions about what would or would not be considered plagiarism, please ask me about it before you turn in your assignment. If you turn in work that has been plagiarized, that will be considered a violation of the Honor Code.
Violations of the Honor Code will be treated severely
If you violate the Honor Code, you may be penalized up to 50 points. This basically lowers your grade by one letter (so, for example, if you would have received an "A" at the end of the semester, you would end up with a "B", and so on).
In addition to the 50-point penalty, cases of academic misconduct may be reported to the Provost's Office for further investigation and additional penalties.
In any given week, I will check between one-third and one-half of the Declarations to make sure that the entries are accurate. So, please do not abuse this system. It is not worth the risk.
